Over a year after the last change in the MRT map, our rail network’s catchment increases yet again – this time, recouping some lost territory near the old Tanjong Pagar railway station. As passenger trains trundle towards the Cantonment area after 15 years, you can relive its bygone days as Singapore’s central intercity station at National Heritage Board’s Virtual Reality experience at Cantonment station. Other fun activities are in store in the three new stations of the newly-opening Circle Line Stage 6 – the architecture of Keppel, Cantonment, and Prince Edward Road heralds a forward-looking drive as their surroundings commence redevelopment as the Greater Southern Waterfront district next year.

To accomodate early and late risers alike, we will gather twice to explore the three stations – the first starting at 9:00 am at Opp MAS Bldg / Shenton Way Terminal, and the second at 12:00 pm at Old Airport Road Food Center – where a combined meetup would occur, to finally tick the famed heritage food court off as a meetup venue. The events include: public transport safety & graciousness booths at Keppel, the aforementioned virtual reality simulator at Cantonment, and perhaps most exciting, a Land Transport Master Plan Refresh Booth at Prince Edward Road station, where we can analyse suggestions raised by participants in Focus Group discussions this past year, see which are calibrated with our own visions, while posting our own takes on post-it notes.

We hope to see you there! As always, an MRT extension is a cause for celebration – while being a stepping stone toward a more cohesive land transport network.

Itinerary for 4th July 2026:

9:00am Meet at Opp MAS Bldg bus stop, and commence walk to Prince Edward Road MRT
9:30am Take first shuttle train from Prince Edward Road to Keppel and try out various activities at the 3 stations
11:30am Proceed to Old Airport Road Food Centre via CCL (Prince Edward Road – Marina Bay shuttle then mainline to Dakota)
12:00pm Meet at Old Airport Road Food Center for combined lunch
1:00pm Proceed to Prince Edward Road and try out various activities with those who arrived later
3:30pm End of event at Keppel MRT
