About Us

The Singapore Transport Collective is a group of various individuals who come together to discuss, ideate, and create visions for a better future of transport in Singapore and beyond. First founded on 8th July, 2020 as the SG Transport Critic blog, STC’s scope has expanded since then to include community outreach and ideation in transport policy.

The Collective is formed of a Team, which guides the development of STC’s various activities, and Members of the community whose active input bring STC beyond the limited power of its small core Team.

Our People

Are we just a large group of local bus and train enthusiasts, as one may be easily led to think? Maybe, but what sets us apart from the run-of-the-mill enthusiast group is where our passions lead us — we know transportation on our little red dot can be much better than it is today, and we want it to be better. This cannot be said without the last part — we want to make it better too. A belief in a healthier and more sustainable future for our city and its transport system drives our interest in this otherwise unconventional hobby. Learning about the mobility systems that move our communities and how to make them better, is how we find meaning in our transport enthusiast identities.

More important than that however, we are also your fellow commuter on public transport, and your fellow Singaporean travelling the streets. Whatever you’ve experienced, so have we, and the policies and design that affects you affect us too. In our advocacy and proposals for better public transport and city building, we strive to represent you, the people. Because what is public transport without it serving the people, used daily by you and us? We do not represent the interests of any corporate body, government agency (eg LTA) or any other third party, and neither are we an enthusiast-oriented group. Our strength lies in our diverse community of people interested and involved in various transport and urbanism affairs.

Our Vision

Building a people-centric transport system together with the people.

Our Mission

To engage and connect people and industry in creating a better future for urban transport in Singapore.

Our Work

“Is a people-centric transport system not also the official vision of LTA?” Why then, are transport issues at the forefront of national consciousness ever more so than before? With declining reliability, diminishing service levels and an increased desire for car ownership, comes an opportunity for greater public participation in shaping the future of how we get around. What might work in the Singapore context? Learning from our peers around the world might help, though it’s important to bear in mind our unique conditions that bend the rules for or against policy implementation here.

Our publications, having served as our main means of commentary, is where we report on transport and urban planning developments in Singapore, and provide analysis of where we’re headed, or where we should be going. We also seek to inform and educate the wider public on what goes into the planning and operation of transportation systems that move our cities, as much as they play an observer role in the transformative affairs shaping local policy. Advanced as we may be, it is never inappropriate to constantly remind ourselves not to fall into the trap of complacency, lest emerging peer competitors outpace our supposed advantages in well-managed transportation.

Our outreach efforts aim to connect to various stakeholders and segments of society who is affected by transport and urban planning policy. Through engagement, consultation and a mix of virtual and real-life events, we aim to bring together people, industry and government

Last but not least, our projects aim to define the possibilities for what can be achieved despite the scientific and human laws governing the fields of transport and urban planning. Set across a multitude of dimensions with varying scope, they complement our publication and outreach efforts in creating and visualising urban design, of Singapore and beyond.

Our Identity

At the core of the STC identity is the STC roundel, introduced on 20th November, 2021. Featuring a circle with the acronym “STC” over an originally gray background, it has evolved to become a symbol of the website, blog and community built around it.

The new STC emblem was introduced together with the launch of the new oneSTC website on 22nd July, 2025. Its design, based off the original STC roundel, is intended to capture the STC spirit for the new era. Based on prior consultation from the community, the emblem comprises four colours, dark purple (background), lavender pink, bright green, and dark gray.

The dark purple background, which replaces the former gray background, represents the excellence and high standards to which STC holds itself to as an active participant in fostering positive change for Singapore’s transport system. Lavender pink featured on the bottom wings, represent the creative spirit of our work, where advocacy doubles up as expression of talent and belief. Bright green, as a representative colour of Singapore’s public transport system, is also reflective of our desire to move towards a more sustainable future. Last but not least, the gray base, together with the iconic STC roundel, pay homage to our origins in the old SG Transport Critic blog, whose legacy lives on in the Collective today.

Our tagline, “Creating Possibilities Together”, reflects and emphasises this collaborative spirit henceforth, with greater opportunities for active participation in future projects and initiatives by the Collective.

That’s what we are, at oneSTC. We formally invite you to be part of this grand journey of remaking our transport, and our city. Here’s to a better public transport system of the future 🥂
